Our Skip-Planed Reclaimed Wood 3x8 Fireplace Mantel Shelves can be used above a fireplace as a mantel or as stand alone floating shelves. Each piece is unique and variations will apply. Each and every piece is taken from barns dating from the late 1700's through the early 1900's. Some have original hand hewing, circle saw markings, worm holes, knots, nail holes and other markings. These are designed to utilize bracket mounting hardware that is included with the piece. Each piece is routed out in the back so the bracket plates are embedded into the wood and the piece fits flush against the wall. The holes for the brackets are NOT pre-drilled since they need to be anchored into your studs or other fixed surface so you will need to measure where your studs are and have the holes drilled appropriately.
Our NEW Skip-Planed 3x8 Reclaimed Barn Wood Rustic Floating Fireplace Mantel Shelf is one of our hottest sellers . You will simply need to drill out holes in the back of the product. The holes should correspond with the bracket location on the walls. They require a 1/2" drill bit.
Images shown are a representation of the piece you will receive - Keep in mind, these are authentic reclaimed pieces of wood here, no two are the same! For example, we have many pine pieces that look brown when oiled. We also have many that will be more red when oiled. Yellow pine tends to end up more red and white pine more brown, but that isnt always the case. Other factors to consider are the age of the piece, the environment in which it spent its life, and the overall condition.
