FAQs

Do the mantels and shelves come pre-drilled for the heavy duty floating shelf brackets?

Yes! When ordered together, the mantels and shelves will come routed and pre-drilled for the heavy duty floating shelf brackets.

What size bracket do I need for my mantel/shelf?

The 22" heavy duty shelf bracket with 4" rods will be best suited for pieces 24-42" long. The 40" heavy duty shelf bracket with 4" rods is recommended to be used for our 3x5, 3x7, 3x8, and 4x8 mantels and shelves in a 48-66" length while the 54" heavy duty bracket with 4" rods is intended for our 3x5, 3x7, 3x8, and 4x8 mantels and shelves in a 72"-96" in length. The heavy duty shelf brackets with the 6" rod supports are recommended for our 3x10 mantel and shelves with the same length guidelines as above.

How much weight do the 6"x6" and 8"x8" steel shelf brackets hold?

As long as installed properly, one set of the steel shelf brackets for the 2" shelves will allow for 50lbs of shelf weight. Each set will add 50lbs to your weight allowance, each individual bracket adds 25lbs.

Do all of the brackets come with screws for mounting?

Yes, all of the brackets will come with screws for mounting. These are basic drywall screws so if you plan to mount to brick, tile, concrete, or stone, masonry screws are highly recommended to be used instead.

What if I do not have studs available to install the steel shelf L-brackets?

When wall studs are not available, we strongly suggest using toggle bolts. They are an expandable anchor that grips the back side of the drywall. They are easier to use than they look! They can be found at any local hardware store. For toggles, use the manufacturer's recommended drill bit size to pre-drill the hole.

- Different size toggle bolts require different size holes so this will be dependent upon the size of toggle bolts you use.
