  • Authentic Reclaimed Wood

All of our materials come from historic barns and other structures dating from the late 1700s to the early 1900s. Our mantels are made from high-quality reclaimed wood that has been salvaged from old barns, homes, and buildings, giving each piece a unique and authentic look that cannot be replicated. A custom letter is sent with every order letting you know the specific history of your piece.

  • Family Owned & Operated

Modern Timber Craft started in 2014 from a love of old barns and historic buildings. Nearly 10 years into this, my wife Raquel, our dog Bear, and I, along with an amazing group of people behind the scenes help us to continue this adventure. We are passionate about creating an experience our customers will enjoy and remember while providing them with a unique and authentic piece of history.

  • Made in the USA

All of our material is not only certified reclaimed, but also made and repurposed in the USA. Salvaged from historic American structures within the eastern portion of the United States and prepared in PA to be the focal point in your home.

If you have any questions about our different types of reclaimed wood shelves, please don’t hesitate to contact us so we can help.

What is the difference between the Contemporary Collection and the Traditional Shelving?

Our contemporary collection offers a smooth to the touch finish and has a
slightly glossy look as well. Each shelf will still have the unique and varied
characteristics that are authentic to reclaimed wood, without the roughness
included. These shelves also come with heavy duty hardware. Not only do
these brackets provide maximum shelf weight support and allowance but
they are easy to mount. Each shelf comes pre-drilled for the bracket; all that
you need to do is mount the bracket onto the wall and shelves onto their
corresponding brackets!

With our traditional reclaimed shelves, you get all of the authentic, varied
characteristics that are true to the material, and are rough to the touch in all
of their glory. With our traditional reclaimed shelves, we clean up the dirt
and debris from their prior lives but leave them to be as natural as possible.

Our traditional reclaimed shelves in all sizes are offered with the visible L
bracket hardware or a heavy duty mounting bracket in our floating option.

How much weight do the standard L brackets hold in comparison to the heavy duty mounting bracket?

As long as installed properly, one set of the visible brackets for the 2" shelves
will allow for about 50lbs of shelf weight. We do have additional sets of
brackets for purchase as well if needed. Each set will add 50lbs to your
weight allowance. Our heavy duty mounting brackets will give you
anywhere from 35lbs of shelf weight allowance on our smaller pieces to
65lbs of shelf weight allowance on the longer lengths.

Will the shelves match if more than one needs to be purchased?

So long as all of the pieces that need to match are ordered together and at
the same time, we will ensure that they match one another as closely as
possible color wise, dimensionally, and characteristically as well. We
HIGHLY recommend ordering all pieces that need to be matched at the
same time.

Can a custom length be ordered that is not listed?

For custom lengths not listed, you will want to add the next size up into your
cart. For example, if you need a 58” length, add a 60” length to your cart.
Once in your shopping cart you will see a space that reads ‘add special
instructions’. In this space you can add the custom length needed and we
can take care of the rest from there!

Our authentic reclaimed barn wood shelves will include unique grain variations, knots, and other characteristics. Keep in mind, these are authentic reclaimed pieces of wood so no two are the same.

Images shown are only representations of the pieces that you will receive. Due to the nature and origin of the barnwood, your pieces may differ slightly. We do offer sample pieces to help ensure the look is exactly what you want.
