    Linseed oil, Early American stain (medium brown), Unfinished suitable for shellac or polyurethane (cut ends are finished to blend into natural color)

    Thickness and depth can vary up to 1/2 inch but are generally within 1/4 inch

    Each and every shelf is unique with many grain variations, knots, checking, worm holes, nail holes, etc.

    These skip-planed reclaimed wood 3x5 fireplace mantel shelves are sourced from historic barns throughout the Eastern United States dating from the 1700's to the early 1900's. Popular locations include Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Ohio and Kentucky.

What's Included?
Solid skip-planed reclaimed wood 3x5 fireplace mantel shelf, bracket mounts and hardware are included. The backs are routed out for the brackets but pre- drilled holes for the brackets are NOT included. You will simply need to drill out holes in the back of the product. The holes should correspond with the bracket location on the walls. This requires a 1/2" drill bit. When you upgrade to our Heavy Duty Floating Shelf Brackets, handcrafted in Pennsylvania, the holes are pre-drilled for an easy installation.

Wood coloring can change the finish dramatically when applied. For example, we have many pine pieces that appear brown when oiled. We also have many that will look reddish when oiled.  Yellow pine tends to end up more reddish, and white pine looks brownish but that is not always the case. Other factors that impact appearance are the age of the piece, the environment in which it spent its life, and the overall condition.

If you order more than one we will do our best to match if requested. We will also make any custom piece for you, simply contact us!

 

Most orders will process and ship within 3-10 business days (Monday thru Friday) but can sometimes ship sooner.

We offer a 14-day return policy on unaltered pieces. Any items that are not returned within 30 days or have been altered in any way including drilling for mounting hardware, will not be eligible for a refund. Customer is responsible for return shipment fees.

    I am thrilled with my wood shelf! I used it to replace a thin and plain mantel and I love how it turned out. It is nice and thick and rustic and a bit rough. There are a few holes here and there adding great character. The stain color is perfect for my room (Early American).
